Nazar-e-Bad (evil eye)

There are prayers (such as A’uzu bi-kalimatil-lahil-tammati and Allahumma Rabban-nas) for protection and cure from Nazar-e-Bad (evil eye) , and some home remedies (such as burning salt, mustard seeds, garlic) which are done with faith in Allah and in the Sunnah way to protect oneself from the evil influence and evil eye.

Duaas (Islamic way)

  1. The Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite this dua for Hasan and Hussain (RA):
    • Arabic: “A’udhu bi kalimatil-lahil-tamati, min kulli shaytanin wa humma, wa min kulli ‘ayin lamma”
    • Meaning: “I seek refuge from every devil, every poisonous creature and every evil eye through the complete words of Allah.”
  2. Dua for Shifa (recovery):
    • Arabic: “Allahumma Rabban-nas adhibil-ba’sa wasfi anthash-shafi la shifa’a illa shifa’uk shifa’an la ugadiru sakaama”
    • Meaning: “O Allah, Lord of mankind! Remove difficulties and grant healing. You are the only one who heals. Grant such healing that no disease remains.”

Home and traditional remedies (cultural methods)

  • Salt and Mustard: Put salt, mustard, resin, garlic, dried onion peels and dried chilies on the embers and rotate them seven times over the fire, this is a way to ward off the evil eye.
  • Camphor and cloves: After many people come to the house, burn camphor and cloves and spread its smoke in every corner of the house.
  • Prayer for blessings: When you see something good, say “Masha’ Allah, bar-ra-k-Allahu fihi” (May Allah bless it, may Allah bless it) to ward off the evil eye.

Important: Remember that these remedies are performed with faith in Allah. The most important thing is to seek refuge in Allah and trust in Him.
